{"id":220266,"date":"2025-12-31T17:43:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T17:43:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/220266\/"},"modified":"2025-12-31T17:43:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T17:43:16","slug":"mtv-closes-its-portfolio-of-music-tv-channels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/220266\/","title":{"rendered":"MTV closes its portfolio of music TV channels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Paramount Media Networks has closed its linear TV music channels in the UK and Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s and Club MTV ceased broadcasting at 6am today.<\/p>\n<p>MTV Live \u2013 which was available on cable only \u2013 also closed.<\/p>\n<p>Paramount announced the closure of the MTV channels back in October.<\/p>\n<p>The popularity of linear music channels has declined significantly with the rise of streaming services.<\/p>\n<p>Paramount\u2019s MTV HD TV channel will continue, with a schedule largely based around reality TV series such as Teen Mom, Geordie Shore and Dating Naked UK.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\tVIDEO: looped closure notices airing on MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s and Club MTV.
