{"id":22029,"date":"2025-09-15T04:12:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-15T04:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/22029\/"},"modified":"2025-09-15T04:12:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-15T04:12:08","slug":"suspicious-atm-withdrawals-lead-to-arrests-over-alleged-money-laundering-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/22029\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspicious ATM withdrawals lead to arrests over alleged money-laundering \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">Garda\u00ed have arrested two people and dismantled an alleged money-laundering operation with links to Poland and Norway following suspicious withdrawals from cash machines. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The operation began on Thursday when officers from the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) received information about large sums of money being taken from ATMs in Dublin and Cork.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The withdrawals happened between August 11th and September 9th and involved the use of bank cards linked to accounts in Poland and Norway, An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">GNECB officers searched a vehicle in Lucan, Co Dublin, on Saturday and recovered a large sum of cash and bank cards.
