{"id":222847,"date":"2026-01-02T04:27:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-02T04:27:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/222847\/"},"modified":"2026-01-02T04:27:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-02T04:27:07","slug":"two-men-due-in-court-as-e750k-seized-during-garda-searches-in-douglas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/222847\/","title":{"rendered":"Two men due in court as \u20ac750k seized during garda searches in Douglas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">Two men have been arrested in connection with the garda seizure of more than \u20ac750,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis in a Cork suburb.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Garda\u00ed said the drugs \u2014 approximately \u20ac700,000 of suspected illegal cocaine and \u20ac60,000 of cannabis \u2014 were discovered during raids conducted in the Douglas area on Tuesday, December 30. \u20ac40,000 in cash was also seized.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Two men, aged in their 30\u2019s and 40\u2019s were subsequently arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at Garda stations in the Cork area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Follow-up searches were then conducted by the Garda National Drugs &amp; Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) in the Dublin 14 area on New Year&#8217;s Eve resulting in the seizure of 0.5kgs of of suspected cannabis and \u20ac4,000 in cash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The seized drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Both of the arrested men have since been charged, and are expected to appear before a special sitting of Cork District Court at approximately 10.30am on Friday, January 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Two men have been arrested in connection with the garda seizure of more than \u20ac750,000 worth of cocaine&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":222848,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[79,7782,61,60,43],"class_list":["post-222847","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-ireland","tag-cork-news","tag-gardai","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/222847","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=222847"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/222847\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/222848"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=222847"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=222847"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=222847"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
