But on Instagram, she shared that everything took a sharp turn once she returned to Earth, where she found herself dealing with a kind of backlash<\/a> she had not expected at all.<\/p>\n

Amanda Nguyen wrote openly about how painful the period following her Blue Origin space trip<\/a> became. She revealed, \u201cWhen Gayle called to check in on me in the aftermath of the spaceflight, I told her my depression might last for years,\u201d adding that the trip seemed like \u201cAnother dream turned into a nightmare.\u201d Nguyen explained how the excitement around the mission was immediately in shambles. In that, she said her work and the meaning behind the flight were disappearing \u201cunder an avalanche of misogyny.\u201d<\/p>\n

The social entrepreneur said the widespread attention online felt impossible to deal with, writing, \u201cIt amounted to billions of hostile impressions \u2014 an onslaught no human brain has evolved to endure.\u201d Moreover, she shared that she stayed inside for a week because she couldn\u2019t get out of bed. Even a month later, she still \u201ccould not speak through my tears.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the post, she included a photo with a handwritten journal entry from December 27 that says \u201cI\u2019m happy to report the depression has lifted,\u201d and explained that it did not happen overnight. Instead, she slowly felt things lighten. Nguyen wrote, \u201cIt\u2019s been 8 months since then, and I\u2019m glad that the fog of grief has started to lift,\u201d thanking everyone who supported her through the ordeal.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Nguyen reflected on surviving past trauma<\/a>, writing, \u201cWe never fully leave behind our past selves; all parts of us are valuable.\u201d Toward the end of her message, she sounded steadier as she confessed, \u201cI can tell Gayle it\u2019s not going to take years\u201d \u2014 a hopeful sign that she is finally finding space to heal again.<\/p>\n
