When Eddie Murphy<\/a> lost the Oscar in 2007 to Alan Arkin<\/a> in Little Miss Sunshine<\/a> for Best Supporting Actor, he left the ceremony shortly after; one\u00a0headline<\/a>\u00a0claimed the\u00a0Dreamgirls-nominated actor \u201cbolted\u201d out of the show and missed his co-star, Jennifer Hudson\u2019s win. But for almost 20 years, Murphy has dispelled the rumor that implies he was a sore loser. \u201cWhat happened was I was at the Oscars, I had lost, and then people kept coming over to me and kept [patting] me on the shoulder,\u201d Murphy told Entertainment Weekly<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cClint Eastwood came and rubbed my shoulder. And I was like, oh, no, no, I\u2019m not gonna be this guy all night. Let\u2019s just leave. I didn\u2019t storm out. I was like, I\u2019m not gonna be the sympathy guy all night.\u201d When rewatching<\/a> the exact moment where Arkin won, Murphy looked respectful but also nervous; he was nominated for an Oscar, after all, it\u2019s a stressful moment.<\/p>\n Murphy wasn\u2019t surprised by Arkin\u2019s win at all, especially because he was of fan of his performance as well. \u201cJeff Katzenberg invited me over to see\u00a0Little Miss Sunshine\u00a0six months before it came out in the theaters, and I literally watched the movie and I watched Alan \u2014 and I hadn\u2019t been nominated or anything yet \u2014 and I watched the movie and I turned to Jeff afterwards and I said, \u2018Now that performance right there is one of those performances that will steal somebody\u2019s Oscar,\u2019\u201d Murphy continued. \u201cI said those exact words.
