Irish shoppers were issued with a number of urgent warnings this week as various products sold in Ireland were recalled over safety fears.<\/p>\n

Each week, product safety officers from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission<\/a> (CCPC) conduct inspections of various products sold in Ireland to ensure they meet safety standards.<\/p>\n

These inspections can be unannounced and cover a range of products, including toys, electrical goods, and gas appliances.<\/p>\n

Where products fail to meet safety standards, CCPC officers use their statutory powers to ensure they are removed from shelves to protect consumers and prevent further risk.<\/p>\n

This week, the CCPC announced that a number of popular items purchased by Irish shoppers online have been recalled over safety fears, including hundreds of children’s toys and a popular power bank. You can find the full list of items which were recalled below.<\/p>\n

Belkin Boost Charge USB-C PD Power Bank 20K<\/p>\n

An urgent recall<\/a> was issued on Monday for a popular power bank<\/a> due to concerns over fire risks, with hundreds sold in the Republic of Ireland.<\/p>\n

Belkin issued the recall after identifying a potential issue with one of its power bank’s lithium cell component.<\/p>\n

“Belkin Limited recalls Belkin Boost Charge USB-C PD Power Bank 20K, model number BPB002,” a CCPC spokesperson said in a statement.<\/p>\n

“The portable power bank\u2019s lithium cell component may overheat, which could pose a fire hazard to consumers.<\/p>\n

“The brand is Belkin. The model is BPB002. The UPC codes are 745883797622, 745883806751, 745883797639, 745883806768. The model number and serial are both located on the back or underside of the product listed on the product label.”<\/p>\n

According to Ireland’s consumer watchdog, there are approximately 827 affected products in Ireland.<\/p>\n

The power bank was sold in a wide variety of channels and stores, outlined below:<\/p>\n

Customers who have purchased the affected product have been advised to immediately disconnect it from any power supply or other products.<\/p>\n

Tototang Slime Shop \u2013 Honey Clear Slime<\/p>\n

A recall notice has also been issued for Tototang Slime Shop \u2013 Honey Clear Slime, which was sold by a third-party seller (Foshan Nanhai District Barbarian Bull Toys Firm) on SHEIN marketplace.<\/p>\n

The product is being recalled as it “presents a chemical risk”.<\/p>\n

According to the CCPC, the migration of boron from the toy slime is too high. Ingestion or contact with an excessive quantity of boron may harm the health of children by damaging the reproductive system.<\/p>\n

The brand is TotoTang Slime Shop. T he batch number is AM-TT-202508. The Product identifier is sh2308165335715559. The type\/model number is Tototang-25.<\/p>\n

There are approximately 226 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.<\/p>\n

If you purchased one of these products, please stop use immediately, discard the product, and keep it out of the reach of children.<\/p>\n

Crystal Growing Kit Toy<\/p>\n

A separate recall notice was issued after a safety issue was identified with a Kids Crystal Growing STEM Science Kit \u2013 Creative, Educational Toy Ages 6+ sold on LivingSocial Europe Limited trading as Wowcher.ie.<\/p>\n

The toy does not bear the required CE marking and it has not been demonstrated to the CCPC that the toy has been tested to relevant safety standards, which may indicate that the product is unsafe.<\/p>\n

Three units of the product were sold by Wowcher to consumers in the Republic of Ireland. If you purchased this product, please discontinue use immediately and keep away from children. Wowcher will contact customers regarding the relevant safety issue and provide a full refund.<\/p>\n

Light up Yoyo toy sold on AliExpress<\/p>\n

The CCPC expressed safety concerns in relation to a Light up Yoyo toy sold on the AliExpress platform by the seller GZADXW Choice Store as it issued a recall notice.<\/p>\n

According to the consumer safety watchdog, the toy does not bear the required CE marking or required safety warnings, and it has not been demonstrated to the CCPC that it has been tested to the relevant safety standards, and for that reason it is being recalled.<\/p>\n

\"LightLight up Yoyo toy sold on AliExpress<\/p>\n

The item number is 011. There were approximately 2 units of the Light up Yoyo toy sold on the AliExpress platform to consumers in the Republic of Ireland.<\/p>\n

Anyone who purchased one of these Light up Yoyo toys is urged to “discontinue use immediately and keep it out of the reach of children”.<\/p>\n
