diagnosed with lung cancer<\/a> while cancelling his upcoming concerts.<\/p>\n“As many of you know I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks,\u201d he wrote in a post on Instagram. “Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK.\u201d<\/p>\n
He continued, “The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. It\u2019s pure luck (and a great doctor) that [it] was found so early. That\u2019s the good news.”<\/p>\n
Manilow explained the doctors did not think the cancer has spread so he’s unlikely to require chemotherapy or radiation treatment following the operation.<\/p>\n
“The doctors do not believe it has spread and I\u2019m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis. So that\u2019s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and \u2018I Love Lucy\u2019 reruns.”<\/p>\n
Manilow noted he would require a month to recover, meaning he\u2019d have to cancel shows for the month of January. He added he hoped to be back on stage in February to resume his Las Vegas residency over Valentine\u2019s Day weekend.<\/p>\n
