Sister Wives<\/a> star Janelle Brown<\/a> is stepping into a new phase of her life.<\/p>\n

Though she no longer believes in the Apostolic United Brethren Church, the mother of six wasn\u2019t taking any chances. If there was any possibility she could \u201cwake up in Heaven and still be married\u201d to Kody Brown<\/a>, she needed to pursue a release.<\/p>\n

Following the explosive fight<\/a> that ended their marriage in 2022, Janelle had already decided she was done with Kody. So when former sister wife Meri Brown<\/a> challenged her to \u201cjust do it,\u201d Janelle immediately emailed the the church requesting a \u201cspiritual release.\u201d <\/p>\n

Janelle feels \u201cfree\u201d of Kody Brown after their church granted spiritual \u201crelease\u201d<\/p>\n

In People\u2019s<\/a> sneak peek of the January 4 episode of Sister Wives, Janelle happily gets her spiritual release from Kody. \u201cI have it,\u201d she says, holding up the release paper. \u201cThat was easy \u2026\u00a0I am free, I am free, I am free!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what I was worried about,\u201d she continued. \u201cThey were all very kind. They granted me the release \u2026 So I\u2019m glad I did this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, the church leaders said they\u2019d notify Kody, so she wouldn\u2019t have to deal with him any further.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I was leaving \u2026 I felt like a weight had lifted off me,\u201d Janelle sighed. \u201cSo somewhere in the back of my mind, this must have been more important than I realized.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following their 29-year spiritual marriage<\/a>, which included welcoming six children and losing one of them<\/a> to suicide, Janelle has no regrets. Even though she was \u201cmarried to him longer than I was single,\u201d she\u2019s at peace with her past.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love the family that we have,\u201d she concluded. \u201cAnd I would do it all again in order to get the family and the kids that we have. [But now] that chapter has ended.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sister Wives<\/a>\u00a0airs Sundays at 10\/9c on TLC.<\/p>\n
