ITV soap boss Iain MacLeod has promised that there’s more to come from Emmerdale’s Graham Foster after his shocking return scenes in Corriedale<\/a>. Despite seemingly being killed off six years ago<\/a>, Graham popped up in the major soap crossover event on Monday evening.<\/p>\n

In a moment that fans surely won’t have seen coming, Graham appeared at the scene of the multi-vehicle crash on a remote road. He was driving a van with mysterious newcomer Jodie tied up in the back, and appeared to have sinister intent, so it’s fair to say that there are plenty of unanswered questions…<\/p>\n

Discussing the bombshell twist for the first time, MacLeod pinpointed Graham’s comeback as one of the big Corriedale moments that will have far-reaching repercussions beyond the special episode. In other words, we can expect to see him back in the main show.<\/p>\n

“Well, you know, there’s never an ending in a soap, is there really?” MacLeod explained at the recent press screening for Corriedale. “I mean, that’s as close as you’re going to get \u2013 at the end of that episode with that amazing final scene over the sunset.<\/p>\n

“But generally, the stories go on forever. So you want stuff that will originate in that episode \u2013 like the return of the mysterious, hooded stranger, Graham.<\/p>\n

“I hope you didn’t see that coming, but maybe some of you recognised his eyes in the rear view mirror, I don’t know! So you want something that’s completely fresh and of course, there were hints to the mystery prisoner that he had in the back of his van throughout the episode. So you want something that’s forward-looking\u2026”<\/p>\n

Graham appeared to lose his life in January 2020 when a dramatic whodunit storyline saw him “murdered” by evil Pierce Harris. Andrew Scarborough had played the role since 2017.<\/p>\n

The two characters who Graham shared the most screen time with \u2013 Kim and Joe Tate \u2013 are still in the show, so we can certainly expect plenty of drama when they’re all reunited later in the year.<\/p>\n

Claire King, who plays Kim, had recently teased<\/a>: “There’s more drama in store for Kim, in the New Year, and this could turn her world upside down.\u2029It’s all very, very exciting and very secretive.”<\/p>\n

We can’t wait to see Kim’s reaction once he’s back\u2026<\/p>\n

MacLeod oversees both Coronation Street and Emmerdale as creative director of continuing drama at ITV, working closely with the shows’ respective producers Kate Brooks and Laura Shaw.<\/p>\n
