1939:\u00a0President Franklin D. Roosevelt appeared at the New York World\u2019s Fair, marking the first appearance of a U.S. president on television.<\/p>\n

1947: The first televised World Series, between the Yankees and Dodgers, aired on NBC.<\/p>\n

1954: The Marriage\u00a0premiered on NBC, becoming the first primetime series to air in full color (not black and white).<\/p>\n

1960: The first\u00a0presidential debate, between Kennedy and Nixon, aired on TV.<\/p>\n

1967: The first televised Super Bowl was\u00a0simulcasted on NBC and CBS.<\/p>\n

1985: An Early Frost\u00a0became the first made-for-TV movie to address AIDS, jumpstarting a necessary conversation in American homes.<\/p>\n

1989-1998: Historic sitcoms like Seinfeld,<\/a>\u00a0Friends,<\/a> and Will & Grace\u00a0all made their debuts and revolutionized the idea of “Must See TV.”<\/p>\n

2008: Rachel Maddow became the first openly lesbian anchor to host a primetime news program with\u00a0The Rachel Maddow Show.\u00a0<\/p>\n
