Chelsea have appointed Liam Rosenior as their new head coach on a deal until 2032.<\/p>\n
The 41-year-old revealed earlier on Tuesday morning during a farewell press conference at Ligue 1 club Strasbourg that he had “verbally agreed” to replace Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n
The deal was rubber-stamped soon after as he returns to English football following previous spells in charge at Derby and Hull.<\/p>\n
Rosenior said on the club’s official website: “I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed head coach of Chelsea Football Club.<\/p>\n
“This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies.<\/p>\n
“My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play as we continue winning trophies.<\/p>\n
“To be entrusted with this role means the world to me and I want to thank all involved for the opportunity and faith in undertaking this job.<\/p>\n
“I will give everything to bring the success this club deserves.”<\/p>\n
Rosenior was appointed as Strasbourg head coach in the summer of 2024, guiding them to a seventh place finish in Ligue 1 last year, a position they currently hold in the table in this current campaign.<\/p>\n
“It’s an unbelievable opportunity at an incredible club, the world champions, and one I just couldn’t turn down. And I can go home, and see my kids. I have made a sacrifice being away from them.<\/p>\n
“It’s been the best 18 months of my professional career here at Strasbourg. I have met some incredible people and none of that happens without the hard work of everyone connected with this football club. It’s not just Chelsea, I have had interest from other Champion League clubs.
