Former Dancing On Ice star Alex Murphy is medically \u201callergic\u201d to her own husband.<\/p>\n
The professional figure<\/a> skater is married to TikTok<\/a> and YouTube personality Paul Klein<\/a>, but they have been unable to start a family due to a rare medical condition.<\/p>\n Murphy<\/a> revealed on This Morning<\/a>: “We found out that we have a genetic predisposition that makes me incompatible with Paul\u2019s DNA \u2013 which is crazy.<\/p>\n \u201cI have this thing called Kir AA and Paul has a gene called HLAC2 and when these genes come together, they kind of repel. My genes put the breaks on and say, \u2018let\u2019s attack this\u2019. So no matter what we had done, it wouldn\u2019t have worked.”<\/p>\n The couple only discovered the issue after suffering failed rounds of IVF. \u201cWe got an at-home medical blood testing kit from a company called Fertylisis,\u201d Murphy explained.<\/p>\n \u201cThey send you the tests in the mail and you give them a blood vial and so we went down to the Pharmacy and got our bloods drawn.”<\/p>\n However, they had to go abroad to to finally get a diagnosis. \u201cWe sent them overseas to Greece and we found out. Luckily, I think we made the right decision by taking a break and saying, \u2018let\u2019s get to the bottom of it\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n Murphy and Klein are now looking at alternatives to help them conceive.<\/p>\n Dancing on Ice was axed by ITV<\/a> last year and Murphy – who left the show in 2020 – fears for her fellow professional skaters.<\/p>\n She said at the time: “I’m shocked and heartbroken for everyone on the show.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I was axed from the show I was heartbroken because it was my livelihood, it’s not just a TV show to us professionals. I know they will all be taking it really hard and now they need to find new jobs – it’s so sad.”<\/p>\n Have you joined Threads?
