{"id":233693,"date":"2026-01-08T05:55:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T05:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/233693\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T05:55:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T05:55:11","slug":"lord-mayors-new-car-is-a-fully-electric-capri-from-cork-ford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/233693\/","title":{"rendered":"Lord Mayor\u2019s new car is a fully electric Capri from Cork Ford"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">A fully electric Ford Capri Premium was presented to Lord Mayor of Cork Fergal Dennehy yesterday by sponsor John Manning, of Henry Ford &amp; Son Ltd.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The car is the fifth electric vehicle that has been used to support the Lord Mayor of Cork\u2019s duties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">On receiving the car, Mr Dennehy thanked John Manning, and Henry Ford &amp; Sons for continuing to support the office of the Lord Mayor through the provision of the mayoral car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The tradition has been ongoing for 80 years, in the long-running partnership between Ford and Cork City Council.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cAs a local authority, we are working to promote sustainable practices throughout Cork,\u201d the Lord Mayor said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/4922126_3_articleinline_DSC_8421.jpg\" alt=\"Cllr Fergal Dennehy was presented with the Ford Capri Premium by John Manning of Henry Ford &amp; Son. Picture: Brian Lougheed<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">He added that, as the first citizen, he was delighted to continue to lead by example with a fully electric model.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Mr Manning, the market lead at Henry Ford &amp; Son Ltd, said the brand was proud to continue its long-standing partnership with the office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu caption\">DEEP ROOTS<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">He said the car\u2019s presentation reflected both Ford\u2019s deep roots in Cork and a shared commitment to sustainability and progress.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The car has a range of 627km, with a charging speed of 28 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">\u201cAs this marks the fifth consecutive year of an electric vehicle supporting the Lord Mayor\u2019s duties, it underlines Cork City\u2019s leadership in embracing cleaner, greener mobility, and we are delighted to play our part in supporting that journey,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">William Ford, the father of Henry Ford, was born in Ballinascarthy, outside Clonakilty.
