The BBC’s historical drama SAS Rogue Heroes has been of the broadcaster’s biggest hits of the last few years, with both seasons receiving critical acclaim. Now, the third season, which was confirmed in September<\/a> last year, has received an exciting update from creator Steven Knight.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Times<\/a>, Knight \u2014 who also created Peaky Blinders, A Thousand Blows and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? \u2014 revealed where things currently stand.<\/p>\n

“We’re just shooting at the moment,” he confirmed. “It’s in France, and I can’t say any more than that, but it’s coming out beautifully.”<\/p>\n

Knight was also asked how long he’d like the show he’d go on for, and gave quite the coy answer.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, I mean, you never know \u2013 because, until something is in production, you never know,” he said. “But I would like to take it to the end of the war.”<\/p>\n

Season 2 ended with the Normandy Landings, which took place in the June of 1944, and was a major turning point in the Allied conflict against the Nazis.<\/p>\n

We don’t know how far season 3 will go just yet, but, interestingly, Knight said last year that<\/a> he’d like to do at least a fourth season.<\/p>\n

He also said at the time that he’d like the show to explore “just a bit beyond” the end of war.<\/p>\n

One thing we do know about season 3 for certain though is that it’s added four new cast members: Grantchester’s Lorne MacFadyen, Devotion’s Nick Hargrove, Brassic’s Andrew Dawson, and Jake Jarratt.<\/p>\n

On Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, both seasons 1 and 2 have perfect 100% positive scores from critics, with The Upcoming<\/a> praising Knight’s “razor-sharp” writing and The Arts Desk<\/a> hailing Jack O’Connell’s lead performance as “thrilling and frequently blood-curdling”.<\/p>\n

The Guardian<\/a> called the show “cool as hell” and “an utterly thrilling romp of a watch”, while Cultured Vultures<\/a> recommended viewers “disengage your brain, stop worrying whether these things actually happened, and enjoy them when they do”.<\/p>\n
