It looks like love at first fright between Christian Bale as Frankenstein\u2019s monster and Jessie Buckley as his companion in USA Today<\/a>\u2018s new image from The Bride!<\/p>\n

Written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, the iconoclastic take on the classic horror story hits theaters and IMAX on March 6 via Warner Bros.<\/p>\n

It follows a lonely Frankenstein who travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride is born.<\/p>\n

What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!<\/p>\n

Buckley and Bale star with Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Pen\u00e9lope Cruz.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing completely honest, nobody wanted me to do that film,\u201d Buckley recently told Vogue<\/a>. \u201cI mean, the studio. I\u2019ve never done a Marvel, I\u2019m not on Instagram, I\u2019m probably the least bankable [choice]. Like the security or the riskiness was\u2026 It was difficult for them. And Maggie was like, \u2018Sorry, I\u2019m not doing it without her.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Gyllenhaal produces alongside Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff (Joker, The Wolf of Wall Street), Talia Kleinhendler, and Osnat Handelsman Keren. Executive producers are Carla Raij, David Webb, and Courtney Kivowitz.<\/p>\n

The Bride! is rated R for \u201cstrong\/bloody violent content, sexual content\/nudity, and language.\u201d<\/p>\n
