\u201cThe women who come to my show, we\u2019re similar,\u201d Joanne McNally<\/a> proclaims. \u201cWe are sound women. We like day drinking, but don\u2019t mess with us,\u201d the comedian says, to raucous laughter. <\/p>\n McNally, who\u2019s in the middle of her almost sold-out Pinotphile tour, doesn\u2019t allow for a single lull on Thursday night. Riffing off the enormous success of her previous show, Prosecco Express, she delivers a hilarious routine that\u2019s the culmination of all that makes up her distinct brand: her boldness, her perpetual singledom and her signature relatability. <\/p>\n She jokes that friends console her about break-ups by saying she dodged a bullet. \u201cLadies, I am the bullet,\u201d she declares.<\/p>\n This time of year might herald a resolve for new habits among some, but the My Therapist Ghosted Me<\/a> host is sticking to her boozy guns, wielding an enormous glass of red wine \u2013 pinot noir, presumably \u2013 and declaring, \u201cI have lost a lot of friends to wellness. It\u2019s very sad.\u201d<\/p>\n The show is broadly centred on the differences between genders, and the way she has watched her peers couple off and have children, which McNally describes as \u201cmissing the boat \u2013 but it feels like you missed a flight and then watched the plane blow up\u201d.<\/p>\n Many of her jokes are stereotypical plays on gender dynamics, such as \u201cI won\u2019t say all men cheat, because that is statistically untrue: some men are dead.\u201d <\/p>\n [\u00a0Joanne McNally: \u2018I was like, I\u2019ll absolutely fly to Ireland and play golf with Bill Murray\u2019Opens in new window<\/a>\u00a0]<\/p>\n The only bum note is when she jokes about Britney Spears, whose father and lawyer were controversially given control of her affairs between 2008 and 2021; the singer claims that, during the conservatorship, she was forced to take medications and perform against her will.<\/p>\n \u201cHer da might be a pr**k, but he was right,\u201d McNally jokes in a line that comes across as punching down. It\u2019s still met with uproarious laughter from the predominantly female audience.<\/p>\n The final part of McNally\u2019s triumphant performance has her riding in on a mobility scooter to the tune of Spears\u2019s Gimme More, bar cart in tow and brandishing glow-in-the-dark dildos. <\/p>\n Exuberant and brazen, McNally delivers everything she promises. <\/p>\n Joanne McNally<\/a> is at 3Olympia<\/a>, Dublin, on Friday, January 9th, and Saturday, January 10th; then at Waterfront Hall<\/a>, Belfast, on Friday, January 23rd; and at Cork Opera House<\/a> from Monday, January 26th, until Saturday, January 31st.
