Most-watched TV programmes in Ireland for 2025 are revealed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Newly released TV viewing figures have proven that it has been yet another successful year for RT\u00c9 as the broadcaster\u00a0continues to attract younger viewers, having the highest level in over 14 years.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Along with this, RT\u00c9 also delivered the highest TV audiences in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ireland-live.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Ireland<\/a> in 2025 with The\u00a0Late Late Toy Show\u00a0yet again taking top spot while The Traitors Ireland also entered the top 10. Sport made up the remaining eight out of the top 10 most-watched programmes as Troy Parrott\u2019s World Cup qualifier goals, All-Ireland Hurling and Football Finals, and the Guinness Six Nations all featured prominently.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>With an increase on the previous two years, the broadcaster delivered 45 of the top 50 most-watched programmes across all channels available in Ireland, with a mix of sport, entertainment, documentaries, news &amp; current affairs, as well as drama and comedy.<\/p>\n<p>The most-watched programme on Virgin Media One was the Ireland v England Six Nations match at the Aviva Stadium which was number 5 in the overall table.<\/p>\n<p>Virgin Media One&#8217;s coverage of three other Ireland Rugby matches also feature in the top 50 as does an episode of I&#8217;m a Celebrity&#8230; Get Me Out of Here!<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ireland-live.ie\/news\/national-news\/1985272\/alert-two-popular-ready-meals-sold-in-dunnes-stores-and-tesco-urgently-recalled.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">ALERT: Two popular ready-meals sold in Dunnes Stores and Tesco urgently recalled<\/a><br \/>\u00a0<br \/>2025 was a year of big national and international events with RT\u00c9 bringing audiences relevant and engaging content including the final of\u00a0The Traitors Ireland, the Prime Time Presidential Debate, as well as the\u00a0FIFA World Cup 2026\u00a0qualifiers, the\u00a0Six Nations,\u00a0Quilter Nations Series\u00a0and the GAA All-Ireland Championships.<\/p>\n<p>The RT\u00c9 Player also had its most successful year to date, attracting a record-breaking 157 million streams in 2025, representing a year-on-year increase.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Eastenders\u00a0was number one on RT\u00c9 Player\u00a0followed by\u00a0Fair City,\u00a0Home and Away\u00a0and\u00a0The Traitors Ireland.\u00a0RT\u00c9 News: Nine O&#8217;Clock\u00a0and\u00a0RT\u00c9 News: Six One\u00a0are also in the top 10 of 2025 on RT\u00c9 Player followed by\u00a0Bluey,\u00a0The Sunday Game Live,\u00a0Yellowstone\u00a0and\u00a0Love\/Hate.<\/p>\n<p>Home-produced documentaries including\u00a0DJ Carey: The Dodger,\u00a0Gerry Hutch: AKA The Monk\u00a0and\u00a0Michael Lynn: the Fugitive, entertainment favourites\u00a0The Late Late Show,\u00a0Dancing with the Stars,\u00a0Ireland\u2019s Fittest Family\u00a0and\u00a0The Rose of Tralee, as well as comedy and drama like\u00a0Fair City\u00a0and\u00a0The Walsh Sisters\u00a0all proved hugely popular in 2025 also.<\/p>\n<p>With 2025 being a presidential election year, RT\u00c9 continued to be the home of trusted news and current affairs with the\u00a0Prime Time: Presidential Debate\u00a0and\u00a0The Katie Hannon Interview\u00a0both featuring in the most-watched programmes of the year, while\u00a0Nationwide\u00a0and the\u00a0RT\u00c9 Six One News\u00a0also made the top 50.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Home renovation programming continued to be as popular as ever as the top 50 list included Room to Improve,\u00a0Cheap Irish Homes,\u00a0DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland\u00a0and\u00a0The Great House Revival\u00a0featuring the late Hugh Wallace.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>While individual performances are not captured in programme averages, RT\u00c9\u2019s coverage of an incredible performance from Troy Parrott and the Irish Football team brought the nation to a standstill as a last-minute goal against Hungary propelled them into the next stages of the World Cup qualifiers with figures peaking at over a million viewers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Steve Carson, Director of Video, RT\u00c9, said:\u00a0\u201cIt&#8217;s been a remarkable\u00a0year for RT\u00c9 programming &#8211;
