The Masked Singer UK<\/a> spoilers follow. <\/p>\n

The Masked Singer UK returned tonight as five contestants aimed to secure their passage into the next round, but it was a short-stay for one legendary singer as they became the third star to be eliminated. <\/p>\n

After some hearty singing from the acts and plenty of wild guesses from the panel, which included guest star Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff, it was Monkey Business and Yak who were in the bottom two after the first round of songs. <\/p>\n

After they each performed another song in the sing-off, it was Yak who was eliminated from the competition<\/a>, with the figure underneath the mask being none other than legendary punk singer John Lydon.<\/p>\n

“For me, I hope the fun comes across,” said the frontman of The Sex Pistols and Public Image Ltd. “Rather than going up there and doing sing-along and guessing who I am straight away, I thought, let’s show the other side of me – an absolute fun-star.”<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m the court jester by nature. It\u2019s just the way it is\u2026 I’m glad to be out of most of this outfit! It\u2019s back breaking in here,” quipped the star, who also appeared in the sixth season of The Masked Singer US when he was unveiled as Jester. <\/p>\n

Lydon, who also appeared in the third season of I’m a Celebrity\u2026 Get Me Out of Here! back in 2004, performed songs by Olivia Newton-John (‘Physical’) and Dean Martin (‘That’s Amore’) on the night.<\/p>\n

The singer and musician becomes the third celebrity to be eliminated from the series following Alex Jones<\/a> and Professor Green<\/a>, who were unveiled as Disc Jockey and Teabag respectively last weekend.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve had such fun. I\u2019ve never sung in my life – in fact, it was a bit of a phobia,” said Jones, the presenter of The One Show, following her exit. “But I was convinced to do this because the kids love the programme so I thought, ‘okay let\u2019s do it.'”<\/p>\n

“What a nice place to be in. To get to a point in my career where I can say, ‘Yeah I’ll do that’. Where I don’t take myself too seriously,” said Professor Green following his own elimination. “I thought people would have enjoyed Teabag. It was quite scary.”<\/p>\n

The Masked Singer returns next Saturday at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX and you can catch up on the series on ITVX.<\/p>\n
