Together, these stories paint a bigger picture of the work done in Cork\u2019s largest hospital on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">On Wednesday&#8217;s episode of Any Given Day: Cork University Hospital,\u00a0we follow the journey of a four-year-old girl suffering prolonged seizures.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Her condition continues to deteriorate en route to the hospital, and her breathing is compromised. Emergency Consultant Rory O\u2019Brien and the team in the Emergency Department are standing by&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Back in the Emergency Department, a cyclist has his kneecap put back in place. The treating Doctor, Jason Van Der Velde, takes an emergency call to attend an accident. 49-year-old James has been kicked in the chest by a horse and is in severe distress. Jason rushes to the scene&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Howard has Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Treated by a multi-disciplinary team, he is in CUH today to check progression of his condition. MND is a severe degenerative disorder of the nervous system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">64-year-old Tim has advanced lung cancer. Chemotherapy and immunotherapy have reduced the tumour sufficiently to allow an operation to take place.
