{"id":240498,"date":"2026-01-12T04:23:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T04:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/240498\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T04:23:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T04:23:07","slug":"former-aberdeen-boss-robson-takes-charge-of-cork-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/240498\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Aberdeen boss Robson takes charge of Cork City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cork City have named former Aberdeen and Raith Rovers manager Barry Robson as the club&#8217;s new first team boss.<\/p>\n<p>The 47-year-old takes the reins at City on an initial two-year contract and comes in to replace Ger Nash who surprisingly stepped down from role in last month.<\/p>\n<p>Robson has most recently been manager of Raith Rovers, following a spell at Aberdeen, where he led them to a third-place finish in the Scottish Premiership in the 2022\/23 season.<\/p>\n<p>As a player, Robson made over 600 appearances across a 19 year career, featuring for clubs such as Dundee United, Celtic, Middlesbrough, Vancouver Whitecaps, Sheffield United and Aberdeen, as well as representing Scotland at International level.<\/p>\n<p>Robson, who takes charge with immediate effect is eager to help City return to the Premier Division at the first time of asking.<\/p>\n<p>He said: &#8220;I&#8217;m delighted to become manager of Cork City FC.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From speaking to the club, it\u2019s clear that this is a great opportunity.
