{"id":241868,"date":"2026-01-13T02:47:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T02:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/241868\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T02:47:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T02:47:13","slug":"two-men-due-in-court-in-relation-to-investigation-where-drugs-firearm-and-knife-seized-killarney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/241868\/","title":{"rendered":"Two men due in court in relation to investigation where drugs, firearm and knife seized Killarney"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two men have been charged in relation to an investigation which saw drugs, a suspected firearm and a knife seized in Killarney.<\/p>\n<p>Both men were arrested following an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.radiokerry.ie\/news\/three-people-remain-in-garda-custody-following-seizure-of-drugs-suspected-firearm-and-knife-in-killarney-467412\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">intelligence operation<\/a> on Saturday and they are due to appear in court this morning.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the operation, Garda\u00ed stopped and searched a vehicle in Killarney at approximately 2:50pm and seized \u20ac5,000 worth of suspected cannabis, a knife and a number of electronic devices of evidential value. <\/p>\n<p>Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, and a woman, aged in her 30s, were arrested and were detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act 1996.<\/p>\n<p>During follow-up searches at a number of locations in Killarney, Garda\u00ed seized over \u20ac160,000 worth of suspected cannabis, over \u20ac1,300 worth of suspected LSD, a suspected firearm, electronic devices, weighing scales and packaging equipment.<\/p>\n<p>The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.<\/p>\n<p>Both men have since been charged and are due to appear before Killarney District Court this morning.<\/p>\n<p>The woman has been released without charge.
