World number two Kyren Wilson produced a confident display to beat Si Jiahui 6-2 and secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the Masters at Alexandra Palace.<\/p>\n
After edging the first frame following a run of snookers, Wilson \u2013 yet to win a tournament this season having broken his cue at the start of the campaign \u2013 looked set to build a maximum in the next, but just missed the 11th red into the bottom corner pocket as he moved 2-0 ahead.<\/p>\n
Si got on the board with a well-crafted break of 97 before Wilson, last year’s Masters runner-up, dug in to re-establish his lead at 3-1 heading into the mid-session interval.<\/p>\n
Although Si pulled another one back by taking a close fifth frame, Wilson, looking to move on from a disappointing first-round exit at the UK Championship, then took the sixth 82-28 before closing out an impressive victory with successive century breaks of 101 and 105.<\/p>\n
This evening’s clash between John Higgins and Barry Hawkins was the sixth match of the tournament with each game so far ending 6-2.<\/p>\n
Higgins reached his 16th Masters quarter-final with a comfortable victory and will play world champion Zhao Xintong next.<\/p>\n
