Coronation Street<\/a> newcomer Jodie Ramsey will break down in front of half-sister Shona Platt as the latter demands answers. But with the pair demanding the other to explain their respective pasts, will their relationship before its even begun?<\/p>\n

Jodie was introduced<\/a> on the ITV soap last week as she made her debut in crossover episode Corriedale, with the figure being seen tied up in the back of a van that was being driven by Emmerdale’s Graham Foster.<\/p>\n

After crossing paths with Shona by chance, Jodie began to keep an eye on the Platt family while they were in hospital. In Wednesday’s (7 January) instalment, it was confirmed that she was Shona’s half-sister<\/a>, but her intentions remain unclear.<\/p>\n

In scenes set to air next week, Jodie wastes no time in confronting Shona about their past. She recalls her traumatic past at the hand of their parents, and accuses her of abandonment in her hour of need. <\/p>\n

The following day, Jodie helps Lily with her self-portrait, but uses the exchange as an opportunity to badmouth Shona even more. Later in the week, Shona attempts to smooth things over by inviting Jodie for breakfast, but Jodie bolts when she sees Kit. <\/p>\n

The moment piques Shona’s interest, and she asks the police officer how he knows Jodie. Kit explains that he met her in the woods on the night of the crash, with Shona being shocked that Jodie was being held captive.<\/p>\n

Still upset by her experience, Jodie heads to a domestic abuse support group in Weatherfield. Later on, Shona and David get a call from Bethany, who says that Jodie is spiralling and causing a scene in the house\u2026<\/p>\n

Jodie’s history has been largely kept a secret so far, with Corrie producer Kate Brooks explaining<\/a>: “We’ve mentioned on the show previously that Shona has a younger sister, so we felt the time was right to bring her into the mix and unpack a bit of Shona’s backstory.<\/p>\n

“She’s a complicated character, and she comes with a lot of baggage. Their relationship as sisters is quite fraught \u2013 they’ve got a lot of history between them. There’s some deep-seated resentment there as well but they love each other, they do have that bond.”<\/p>\n
