Grammy-winning artists Ed Sheeran<\/a> and John Mayer<\/a>, joined by producer Blake Slatkin<\/a>, are offering a closer look into the making of \u201cDrive<\/a>,\u201d their original song created for \u201cF1<\/a>.\u201d Released as the fifth single from the film\u2019s soundtrack album on June 20, 2025, \u201cDrive<\/a>\u201d was co-written by the three of them.<\/p>\n

In an interview for Variety\u2019s Behind the Song, the trio revealed that the idea for the track was created after Slatkin watched the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was called by my friends at Atlantic Records<\/a>, who were working on the soundtrack, and they had me come in and see the movie,\u201d said Slatkin. \u201cI literally walked out of the screening room and called Ed and John at the same time, and was like, we have to make a song for this.\u201d<\/p>\n
