A Co Cavan man says Dublin’s O’Connell Street is lacking what other European city centres have.<\/p>\n
Darren Gaffney posed the question on social media what has the main thoroughfare has to offer in Dublin.<\/p>\n
He says when you think of other European cities, the centres are bustling and full of high standard retail outlets. The Cavan man who lives in Dublin says after 6pm O’Connell Street is empty and there is an air of danger from the lack of people around.<\/p>\n
Dublin City Council said last week they are to spend \u20ac3.8m on a dedicated unit for the “rejuvenation” of the city centre in response to the riots over two years ago that “deeply affected the city”.<\/p>\n
Dublin’s north inner city has been plagued by petty crime and allegedly unsafe streets for several years. Darren who is a comedian says walking down O’Connell Street after 8pm and there is almost no premises open except for a couple of takeaways.
