The State agency\u2019s end of year figures for 2025 are due for release at the end of the month, statistics that are likely to reaffirm both counties position at the top of the development organisation\u2019s employment ladder.<\/p>\n
Those expectations come on foot of a parliamentary question from Cavan based Fianna F\u00e1il TD Brendan Smith.<\/p>\n
The long-serving D\u00e1il deputy and his party\u2019s parliamentary chairman, tabled a request earlier this week for the number of Enterprise Ireland supported jobs over the past 12 months and when compared to those of five years earlier.<\/p>\n
Junior Enterprise Minister Alan Dillon, in response, said that while 2025 figures weren\u2019t due to be published until the last week of this month, data from 2024 showed how Monaghan and Cavan were the top and third highest ranking counties for job creation under the umbrella of Enterprise Ireland.<\/p>\n
More than 28,000 such positions, Mr Dillon stated, were created across the border region which also incorporated Louth, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal with Cavan (6,681) and Monaghan (7,644)accounting for over half, or approximately 14,325 posts.<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite the global crises and geopolitical challenges since 2020, EI-supported companies have delivered an excellent performance, increasing employment from 220,613 jobs in 2020 to 234,454 in 2024,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn relation to the border region, counties Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Leitrim, Sligo, and Donegal, the overall increase in employment also applies.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn 2020, there were a total of 24,690 EI supported jobs in the region.
