Love Island alum Nic Vansteenberghe<\/a> just proved that he can\u2014and does\u2014see what you post about his relationship with Olandria Carthen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On January 16, the 24-year-old reality star responded to a Threads user who claimed \u201cOlandria can do better than Nic.\u201d The post continued<\/a>, \u201cI like him and all but he’s bad for her brand. I can see her with a millionaire doctor or something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bad for her brand in what way? This past summer, America watched as the pair turned Love Island into their own personal rom-com, instantly propelling them both into superstar status. In less than a year, Olandria went from selling elevators to walking the runway<\/a> at New York Fashion Week, speaking at Harvard<\/a>, hitting red carpets<\/a>, and scoring a Glamour cover<\/a> with her newfound love, who isn’t doing too badly in the career department<\/a> himself.<\/p>\n

Nic suggested as much in his brief response, writing<\/a>, \u201cAll she got was a millionaire nurse \ud83d\ude1e.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Nic Vansteenberghe is a registered nurse<\/a>, he was already working as a model in Japan prior to his turn on the popular reality dating show. \u201cI was making enough money to travel and do what I wanted, but I felt like I had no purpose, just partying and vacationing\u2014no future plan, just going with the flow,\u201d he told Glamour<\/a> in December. Now, he’s pursueing all sorts of new ventures, including a budding DJ career<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As both of their stars continue to rise, the couple are working on setting boundaries with a fandom that’s rabid for more Nicolandria. \u201cThat\u2019s been the most fun part, taking control of the narrative,\u201d Olandria told Glamour. \u201cBecause at first, I was so upset at the thoughts that people had about me. I\u2019m like, You know what? They\u2019re only going off of what they were seeing, what they were shown. At this point it\u2019s up to me to control that narrative and show them the real me, the part that\u2019s not edited. The rest of my life is not going to be edited. If you like it, you love it. If you don\u2019t, whatever.”<\/p>\n

Still, Olandria says the more they post, the more fans \u201cnitpick\u201d their behavior and scrutinize their relationship. \u201cWe always have check-ins, like, \u2018How\u2019s your mental? How are you today? I\u2019m always here.\u2019 I wish we didn\u2019t have to do that as much as we had to,” she said. \u201cThank God we\u2019ve got each other, because I don\u2019t know what we would do without each other, literally, when it comes to that.\u201d<\/p>\n
