A massive boost in capital from tech company Qualcomm will see 300 new jobs created in their Cork offices in the coming years after the global giant announced it’s putting an additional \u20ac125m into its Leeside operations.<\/p>\n
The major announcement will see its workforce here in Cork surpass 1,000 employees just a decade after the multinational hired its first engineer here.<\/p>\n
Qualcomm’s office is one of the sleek new buildings on the rapidly developing Penrose Quay<\/a> – making it one of many companies showing confidence in the city<\/a>‘s workforce and economy.<\/p>\n The San Diego-based business develops technology for 5G and emerging 6G networks, as well as new advanced AI systems and low-power computing. It’s also one of the largest producers of fabless semiconductors in the world.<\/p>\n Qualcomm says the new investment is part of a plan to turn its Cork site into a “a strategic AI pillar” over the next three years.<\/p>\n Minister of State and Cork TD Jerry Buttimer said: “Today\u2019s announcement by Qualcomm is a powerful endorsement of Ireland\u2019s ambition to lead globally in advanced research, next\u2011generation computing and AI.
