Republic of Ireland midfielder Denise O’Sullivan has confirmed her departure from NWSL side North Carolina Courage after almost a decade of service – and completed a mooted move to WSL outfit Liverpool.<\/p>\n
“It means a lot,” the Holyhill native said of the Mrseyside move. “It’s a very proud moment for myself and also for my family, who are now only a 40-minute flight away.<\/p>\n
“Liverpool is a massive club and I think when you join a club as big as Liverpool it comes with massive responsibility and I can’t wait to get to work and to give 100 per cent every day.”<\/p>\n
The Cork native had called North Carolina Courage home since 2017 and the Ireland centurion released a statement on her X account, noting she is “onto a new challenge”.<\/p>\n
“Nine years. One club. A lifetime of memories,” the 31-year-old’s statement read. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to put into words what this club has truly meant to me.<\/p>\n
“North Carolina will always be home and I\u2019m forever grateful to the club, my teammates, and the incredible fans who supported me & believed in me every step of the way.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m onto a new challenge now, but I\u2019ll always be part of Courage Country.<\/p>\n
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
