{"id":251578,"date":"2026-01-18T19:51:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-18T19:51:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/251578\/"},"modified":"2026-01-18T19:51:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-18T19:51:08","slug":"english-breaks-irish-800m-indoor-record-in-luxembourg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/251578\/","title":{"rendered":"English breaks Irish 800m indoor record in Luxembourg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mark English made a flying start to the year by breaking his own national 800m indoor record in Luxembourg on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Running in the CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting, the Donegal man finished strongly on the final lap to cross the line in 1:44.65.<\/p>\n<p>That beat the 1:45.15 time that the three-time Olympian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/sport\/athletics\/2025\/0208\/1495580-irish-indoor-records-fall-for-healy-english-coscoran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">set at the Millrose Games in New York last year<\/a> by just under a second.
