Metallica is nearing a deal to bring its historic heavy metal sound to the Las Vegas Sphere, according to\u00a0multiple reports.<\/p>\n
Metal Injection reports that the Sun \u2014 a British tabloid \u2014 claims the band is 90% through negotiations to secure a residency at the venue in 2027.<\/p>\n
According to the outlet, band members\u00a0James Hetfield,\u00a0Lars Ulrich,\u00a0Kirk Hammett\u00a0and\u00a0Robert Trujillo\u00a0have already begun meeting with Sphere executives and technical teams, but contracts have yet to be signed.<\/p>\n
During an August appearance on The Howard Stern Show, drummer Ulrich addressed the rumors directly.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not going to confirm anything, because there\u2019s nothing to confirm \u2026 but I would love to do it,\u201d Ulrich said.<\/p>\n
The 62-year-old drummer called the Sphere \u201cthe beginning of another chapter in live performances\u201d after attending U2\u2019s 2023 opening-night show.<\/p>\n
Bassist\u00a0Robert Trujillo\u00a0spoke about potential visual possibilities during an appearance on SiriusXM\u2019s Trunk Nation with\u00a0Eddie Trunk. \u201cImagine a song like \u2018Orion\u2019 and what you can do with that,\u201d he said. \u201cThe possibilities are endless.\u201d<\/p>\n
Guitarist\u00a0Kirk Hammett\u00a0told\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter\u00a0in comments made last spring that Metallica would consider playing the venue, praising how modern technology is transforming live music.<\/p>\n
Metallica would become the first heavy metal band to headline a Sphere residency.<\/p>\n
