The defendant admitted to Garda\u00ed that he had no insurance. The vehicle was then seized. <\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The court heard that Muhammed had no previous convictions. <\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Ms Abigail Livingstone, solicitor (defending) told Judge \u00c9ite\u00e1in Cunningham that her client was stopped by Garda\u00ed on just his second day in Ireland after moving from South Africa. She said that Muhammed had no previous convictions here or in South Africa. Her client worked for Eir and that he drove for a living. <\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Ms Livingstone explained that Muhammed did not have a personal vehicle and that he drove his work vehicle with insurance covered by his company. <\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">For driving without insurance, Judge Cunningham convicted and fined Muhammed \u20ac250 but did not disqualify him from driving due to his no previous convictions and the special circumstances and mitigation outlined by his solicitor. She warned the defendant that if appeared in court again for the same offence, it would be a mandatory four year disqualification. <\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Report funded by the Courts Reporting Scheme.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Stock image.
