Dominik Szoboszlai<\/a> is determined to put the worst week of his Liverpool career behind him as the Champions League<\/a> returns with a top-eight place at stake.<\/p>\n

Szoboszlai & Salah Update: A quick look<\/p>\n

\u2022 Contract Progress: Dominik Szoboszlai<\/a> has confirmed that talks over a new Liverpool contract are underway, though he warns \u201cno decision\u201d has been reached.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Bouncing Back: After a \u201ctough week\u201d involving a high-profile error against Barnsley and a missed penalty vs. Burnley<\/a>, the Hungary captain is determined to rediscover his clinical edge for the trip to Marseille. <\/p>\n

\u2022 Salah\u2019s Return: Mohamed Salah<\/a> is due back on Merseyside following Egypt\u2019s AFCON exit. Szoboszlai confirmed he remains in daily contact with the forward but refused to comment on Salah\u2019s previously strained relationship with Arne Slot<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Dominik Szoboszlai not deterred by penalty miss<\/p>\n

The Hungary captain hit the crossbar with a first-half penalty in the 1-1 draw against Burnley<\/a> on Saturday, five days after he gifted Barnsley a goal with a backheel in his own six-yard box.<\/p>\n

Szoboszlai still has a lot of credit in the bank \u2013 he began the FA Cup<\/a> win over the Tykes with a brilliant 35-yard strike \u2013 as the team\u2019s best player this season but he is determined to rediscover his high standards.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, personally, it was a tough one,\u201d the midfielder said of the last week ahead of a trip to Marseille on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\"LIVERPOOL,<\/p>\n

\u201cI made a mistake against Barnsley but I have to make it clear it wasn\u2019t disrespectful in my opinion and I would do the same against Arsenal<\/a>, City and against Chelsea<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to keep going but I tried to pretend that I was playing it back (to goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili<\/a>) \u2013 just to make it clear.<\/p>\n

\u201cI missed a penalty but I\u2019m going to keep on going, I\u2019m going to take the next one and I\u2019m going to score I\u2019m pretty sure.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to forget it, that\u2019s the best, but of course you have to have learned from it.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest if you see me after every session I cannot practise more \u2013 and I\u2019m not allowed to practise more because I\u2019m practising as much as I can. I will keep on practising and if I have another chance I will take it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He may not get the opportunity as first-choice taker Mohamed Salah<\/a> is due back from Africa Cup of Nations duty after Saturday\u2019s third-place play-off defeat to Nigeria.<\/p>\n

Szoboszlai is close friends with the Egypt international and will defer to him on his return.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he comes back he is the first penalty taker but until he comes back I\u2019m the first penalty taker,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will give me some advice on what to think about when you miss one as he\u2019s missed a couple of times but he keeps on going and forgets what has happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dominik Szoboszlai\u2019s daily contact with Mo Salah<\/p>\n

Szoboszlai said he had been in daily contact with Salah while he was away but declined to offer any insight into the forward\u2019s mindset.<\/p>\n

Salah departed for AFCON after a fall out with head coach Arne Slot<\/a> and also raised doubts about his future at the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe speak about everything (but) that\u2019s between me and him. He will come back and then we just keep on going,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will be here and it\u2019s the decision of the manager and the club.
