Jimmy Fallon mocked President Trump\u2019s suggestion that he took Venezuelan opposition leader Mar\u00eda Corina Machado\u2019s Nobel Prize<\/a> because she \u201coffered\u201d it to him. \u201cYeah, because you told her to!\u201d the \u201cTonight Show\u201d<\/a> host pointed out on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Fallon was one of the few late night hosts to air a new episode on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, using his monologue to note its significance. \u201cIt\u2019s such an important holiday,\u201d Fallon said. \u201cToday, President Trump said, \u2018I think we can all agree MLK would want me to have his Nobel Peace Prize.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Machado\u2019s Nobel Peace Prize, Fallon remarked, \u201cIt means a lot to Trump. He hung it on the wall right next to his McDonald\u2019s Customer of the Month plaque.\u201d Unfortunately for the president, Fallon also noted that the Nobel committee has already stated<\/a> that the award still belongs to its initial recipient, as does the prize money given with it.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrump heard that and was like, \u2018Wait. There\u2019s prize money?\u2019\u201d Fallon joked.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Fallon touched on Trump\u2019s increasingly aggressive plan to make Greenland a U.S. territory<\/a>. The NBC host recapped how the president has threatened to impose new tariffs on European nations that do not agree to his plan, which prompted the European Union to hold an emergency meeting this past Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you know how mad Europeans have to be to work on a weekend?\u201d Fallon asked. The comedian continued, \u201cOver the weekend, Trump texted Norway\u2019s prime minister that one of the reasons he\u2019s trying to take over Greenland is that he didn\u2019t win the Nobel Peace Prize. Then, a little bit later, Trump said he\u2019s taking over Venezuela because he didn\u2019t win a Latin Grammy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know the prime minister of Norway was screenshotting Trump\u2019s texts and sending them to Europe\u2019s other leaders, like, \u2018You believe this friggin\u2019 guy?\u2019\u201d Fallon added. He then addressed Trump\u2019s plan to create an International Board of Peace to help maintain peace around the world, as well as the president\u2019s proposal that it would cost $1 billion to permanently join.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll take a wild guess who they can make the check out to,\u201d Fallon dryly remarked.<\/p>\n
