Elon Musk floated the idea of buying Ryanair as the tech billionaire\u2019s spat with O\u2019Leary escalates.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Leary\u2019s press conference will be held in Dublin at 10am, to address what Ryanair described as Musk\u2019s \u201cTwitter tantrum\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a statement released on Tuesday afternoon, Ryanair said O\u2019Leary will address \u201cElon Musk\u2019s latest Twitshit\u201d.<\/p>\n

“Musk knows even less about airline ownership rules than he does about aircraft aerodynamics,\u201d O\u2019Leary said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The airline said it is launching a \u2018great idiots\u2019 seat sale \u201cespecially\u201d for Musk and \u201cany other idiots on X\u201d, offering 100,000 seats for \u20ac16.99.<\/p>\n

“Buy now before Musk gets one,\u201d Ryanair added.<\/p>\n

The Tesla founder created a poll on the social media platform X, which he owns, asking his followers if he should buy Ryanair and \u201crestore Ryan as their rightful ruler\u201d.<\/p>\n

It comes days after he previously made the suggestion amid a feud with the Irish airline over the use of Wi-Fi on flights.<\/p>\n

Ryanair\u2019s chief executive Michael O\u2019Leary said in an interview with Newstalk that he would \u201cpay no attention whatsoever\u201d to Mr Musk, labelling him an \u201cidiot\u201d after being asked about Starlink being introduced on planes.<\/p>\n

Starlink is a satellite internet system developed by Mr Musk\u2019s aerospace company SpaceX.<\/p>\n

Mr O\u2019Leary said it would be too costly as the aerial antenna would drag on the aircraft and \u201cpassengers wouldn\u2019t pay for internet usage\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mr Musk has since fired back at posts on Ryanair\u2019s X account which mocked the tech mogul over the row.<\/p>\n

While his own posts are widely taken to be provocative rather than serious bids, Mr Musk\u2019s takeover of X, formerly Twitter, began with a surprise offer to buy it after he built up a stake. <\/p>\n

Ryanair is listed on the Euronext index in Dublin and its shares have a market capitalisation of around \u20ac30.4bn.<\/p>\n

The low-cost airline is expecting to fly 207 million passengers over the current financial year.<\/p>\n
