\n\tThe Songwriters Hall of Fame<\/a> has announced its 2026 inductees \u2013 three non-performing songwriters or songwriting<\/a> teams (Walter Afanasieff, Terry Britten & Graham Lyle and Christopher \u201cTricky\u201d Stewart<\/a>) and four performing songwriters or songwriting teams (Gene Simmons<\/a> and Paul Stanley<\/a> of KISS<\/a>, Kenny Loggins<\/a>, Alanis Morissette<\/a> and Taylor Swift<\/a>).<\/p>\n

\n\tSwift has set a couple of Songwriters Hall of Fame\u00a0records. At 36, she\u2019s the youngest woman ever to be inducted into the SHOF (though she\u2019s not the youngest inductee overall. See this exclusive list<\/a> of the seven-youngest inductees.) Also, Swift, who received the Hal David Starlight Award from the SHOF in 2010, is the first person to graduate from the Starlight Award (an award for a songwriter<\/a> who shows promise, which dates to 2004) to full membership status.<\/p>\n

\n\tA songwriter with a notable catalog of songs qualifies for SHOF induction 20 years after the first commercial release of a song. Swift\u2019s first single, \u201cTim McGraw,\u201d was released in June 2006. The SHOF Induction and\u00a0Awards<\/a>\u00a0gala is set for June 11 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City, so she just made it.<\/p>\n

\n\tSeveral of this year\u2019s inductees are well-known for collaborations with previous SHOF inductees. Swift collaborated on her early hits (including perhaps her most prized song \u201cAll Too Well\u201d) with 2023 inductee Liz Rose. Afanasieff is best-known for his collaboration with 2022 inductee Mariah Carey<\/a> on such songs as \u201cHero\u201d and \u201cAll I Want for Christmas Is You\u201d. Loggins has collaborated on his biggest hits with 2025 inductee Michael McDonald<\/a> (\u201cWhat a Fool Believes\u201d) and 2024 inductee Dean Pitchford (\u201cFootloose\u201d). \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe list of inductees includes three songwriters or songwriting teams who have won Grammys for song of the year \u2013 Britten and Lyle (Tina Turner\u2019s \u201cWhat\u2019s Love Got to Do With It\u201d);\u00a0(the Doobie Brothers\u2019 \u201cWhat a Fool Believes,\u201d a co-write with McDonald); and\u00a0Stewart\u00a0(\u201cSingle Ladies (Put a Ring on It),\u201d a co-write with Beyonc\u00e9, Terius \u201cThe-Dream\u201d Nash and Thaddis Harrell.<\/p>\n

\n\tMorissette was nominated for song of the year for co-writing the incendiary \u201cYou Oughta Know,\u201d but didn\u2019t win. But she did win Juno Awards for songwriter of the year in both 1996 and 1997 in her native Canada.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe announcement of the induction of Simmons and Stanley comes just one month after KISS received the Kennedy Center Honors. It comes about three months after the\u00a0death of Ace Frehley<\/a>, KISS\u2019 original lead guitarist and founding member. Frehley, 74, died Oct. 16 in New Jersey.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Songwriters Hall of Fame was established in 1969 and inducted its first class of songwriters in 1970.<\/p>\n
