Martin Short<\/a> actually almost ruined co-star Selena Gomez<\/a>\u2018s special day.<\/p>\n

The 75-year-old Only Murders in the Building<\/a> star made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday (January 21), where he discussed Selena\u2018s wedding to Benny Blanco<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During his appearance, he admitted that there was a horrible mishap related to their wedding cake.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe wedding was perfect and it was beautiful,\u201d he began.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything was perfect except the night of the reception,\u201d he went on to say.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a big, big party\u2026big tents and at the back of the tent where these individual seating areas with couches and chairs. So that if you had a group, like we had a group, Only Murders in the Building, there was about 12 of us,\u201d he went on to explain.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd there was a wedding cake by our section but it was a small wedding cake. I just assumed there was a wedding cake for each section in the back. So after a few hours, they haven\u2019t cut their wedding cake yet, Steve [Martin]<\/a> said he was going to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe I\u2019d had a cocktail, I don\u2019t know. So I said, \u2018Oh Steve, you can\u2019t leave\u2019 \u2013 I had a fork in my hand \u2013 \u2018You can\u2019t leave yet without a piece of wedding cake.\u2019 And I cut the wedding cake, one side, cut it the other and then all the people in our group scream, \u2018Marty!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was the wedding cake,\u201d he hilariously noted as they displayed a photo of the evidence on-screen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tried to fix it with a fork. This was bad. This was about an hour before it was to be presented. And so I turned to [co-star] Paul Rudd<\/a> and said, \u2018So, do we just leave?\u2019 And then they called the wedding coordinator and then the chef came out,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was like, \u2018What the hell happened here?\u2019\u201d he amusingly recalled.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen they did surgery but it ended up being like a Hollywood wedding cake and that it was beautiful but now it had a little work done,\u201d Martin said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSteve was so stunned when I did that he gained color,\u201d Martin noted of his co-star.<\/p>\n

\u201cI kept saying, \u2018Guys, we can\u2019t let Selena know.\u2019 And Steven said, \u2018Maybe we tell her in a month or so.\u2019\u201d Watch him explain the debacle above!<\/p>\n
