\n The MPs from across different parties have called on the Work and Pensions Secretary to \u201creach the right decision\u201d and set out plans to compensate 1950s-born women affected by changes to the state pension urgently.\n<\/p>\n
\n Those who have signed say women affected have \u201csuffered a clear injustice\u201d after being denied the opportunity make alternative plans for their retirement.\n<\/p>\n
\n The letter has been signed by senior Labour and Conservative figures alongside dozens of MPs from the LibDems, DUP, Greens and the SNP<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n \n READ MORE: Keir Starmer told off by Speaker after attacking Zack Polanski<\/a>\n<\/p>\n \n SNP figures who have signed the letter include Pete Wishart<\/a>, Seamus Logan, Brendan O’Hara and Graham Leadbitter.\n<\/p>\n \n Just days before UK Government lawyers were set to be hauled before the High Court in December over the rejection of compensation, ministers agreed to reconsider all evidence relating to the case<\/a> in full by March 2.\n<\/p>\n \n Waspi [Women Against State Pension Inequality<\/a>] says more than 50,000 people have written to their MPs so far in support of compensation in just two weeks.\n<\/p>\n \n Angela Madden, chair of Waspi, said: “It\u2019s high time that ministers stopped stalling and started compensating Waspi women.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cThe strength of support across the country is palpable, evidenced by one letter being sent every 30 seconds by people from all walks of life to their MPs.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cWe have been overwhelmed by growing levels of support in Parliament too. The next few weeks are crucial for Labour ministers to demonstrate they hear the voices of their backbenchers and hundreds across Parliament loud and clear.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n On November 11 last year, Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden<\/a> said his department would review the policy not to compensate women born in the 1950s<\/a> who were affected by the increase in the pension age.\n<\/p>\n \n A report by the Parliamentary and Health<\/a> Service Ombudsman had previously suggested that compensation ranging between \u00a31000 and \u00a32950 could be appropriate for each of those affected by how state pension changes had been communicated.\n<\/p>\n
