\n\t\u201cPrimitive War<\/a>\u201d is returning for another round of Vietnam War-meets-dinosaur action.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPrimitive War 2<\/a>\u201d is in the works, Variety can confirm. Luke Sparke is returning to write, direct and produce the sequel through his Sparke Films. He also served as the editor, production designer and VFX supervisor on last year\u2019s first film. The franchise is based on Ethan Pettus\u2019 book series.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe first film was about discovery,\u201d Sparke said in a statement. \u201cThis is about escalation \u2014 what happens when control is lost, when nature adapts faster than military doctrine and when the war itself becomes secondary to what\u2019s been unleashed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPrimitive War 2\u201d is currently in late development, with plans to release it in 2027. Returning to the film are Sparke\u2019s Queensland-based crew and producers Carmel Imrie, Carly Sparke, executive producer Geoff Imrie and co-producer Alex Becconsall. Carmel and Geoff Imrie are producing through their company, Let It Be Entertainment.<\/p>\n

\n\tPer the official description, \u201c\u2018Primitive War 2\u2019 expands the scope and mythology of the franchise, pushing deeper into the Vietnam conflict zone where 1960\u2019s warfare collides with prehistoric predators. The sequel is positioned as a darker, more intense escalation \u2014 and more grounded war epic \u2014 continuing the series\u2019 distinctive blend of military realism and survival horror. Set in the aftermath of the original film, \u2018Primitive War 2\u2019 follows a new U.S. platoon sent into an increasingly unstable valley, where competing kill zones, rival apex predators and secret Cold War agendas converge. As containment collapses, the mission becomes one of survival \u2014 and the cost of failure threatens to extend far beyond the battlefield.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI had a blast watching the first \u2018Primitive War\u2019 film, and I\u2019m excited to see how the sequel goes!\u201d Pettus said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\n\tLuke Sparke is represented by Ben Levine at Link Entertainment and Vivek Kolli, with legal representation by Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum Matlof + Fishman.<\/p>\n
