Lincoln closed the gap on League One leaders Cardiff to three points with a hard-fought win against struggling Burton at the LNER Stadium.<\/p>\n
Most of the action in a largely forgettable first half was crammed into 120 seconds as Jack Moylan fizzed a beauty from 25 yards in off the post to put the hosts ahead on 35 minutes, only for Jake Beesley to tuck home a close-range volley two minutes later.<\/p>\n
Moylan then pounced to score what turned out to be the winner 10 minutes after the break, poking home after Brad Collins had spilled Freddie Draper’s shot.<\/p>\n
The win took the Imps six points clear of third-placed Bradford in the promotion race, with the Bantams facing Huddersfield on Saturday before heading to Lincoln on Tuesday for a potentially huge showdown.<\/p>\n
The Imps had a chance inside four minutes as the ball broke to Reeco Hackett following a long throw but he could only lash the wrong side of Collins’ upright from close range.<\/p>\n
Both sides saw penalty appeals waved away before Rob Street’s attempt to loop a header over Collins after a weak clearance from Udoka Godwin-Malife was clawed away by the keeper.<\/p>\n
The Imps went ahead when Moylan strode forward and fired in a brilliant swerving shot which flew past Collins and in off the base of his left post.<\/p>\n
The lead lasted just two minutes as Jack Armer swung in a cross from the left and defender Sonny Bradley allowed the ball to run beyond him where Beesley was lurking to tuck home a first-time effort from barely two yards out.<\/p>\n
The Brewers finished the first half on top and began the second the brighter until the Imps restored their lead on 55 minutes when Moylan slid the ball to Draper, whose low angled shot was spilled by Collins, with Moylan continuing his run to beat the keeper to the loose ball and poke home.<\/p>\n
