Similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/tech\/864569\/sennheiser-bluetooth-auracast-bta1-transmitter-hdr-275-wireless-headphones\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sennheiser\u2019s BTA1 TV Transmitter<\/a> announced earlier this week, the Heddon doesn\u2019t require wireless audio devices to go through a pairing process to stream audio, as long as they also support Bluetooth Auracast. But while Sennheiser\u2019s transmitter has an HDMI port for broadcasting audio from movies and TV shows, Marshall focuses on music.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The Heddon hub includes Wi-Fi which is used to directly connect to streaming services including Spotify Connect and Tidal. Other platforms like Apple Music can be used, but they need to be streamed through other devices like your phone that connect to the hub using AirPlay or Google Cast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Marshall says the Heddon\u2019s Auracast broadcasting is compatible with its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Marshall-Acton-Bluetooth-Speaker-Black\/dp\/B0BC27MM5Z\/ref=sr_1_1??tag=theverge02-20\" rel=\"sponsored nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Acton III<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Marshall-Stanmore-Bluetooth-Wireless-Speaker\/dp\/B09HTFCR59\/ref=sr_1_2?th=1&amp;tag=theverge02-20\" rel=\"sponsored nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Stanmore III,<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Marshall-Woburn-Bluetooth-Wireless-Speaker\/dp\/B09HTD7R7W\/ref=sr_1_1?th=1&amp;tag=theverge02-20\" rel=\"sponsored nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Woburn III Bluetooth speakers<\/a>. Assuming it\u2019s using a standard Bluetooth connection and not a proprietary implementation, any wireless speaker, headphones, earbuds, or even hearing aids that support Auracast should be able to access its broadcasts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Older versions of Marshall\u2019s wireless speakers, including its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/circuitbreaker\/2018\/8\/30\/17797676\/marshall-headphones-stanmore-acton-2-bluetooth-speakers-alexa-google-assistant-price-ifa-2018\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Acton II and Stanmore II<\/a>, can only connect to the Heddon using RCA to AUX or RCA to RCA cables, and just one at a time. While the hub has two stereo pairs of RCA ports on the back, only one is for connecting to a speaker. The other two are line in ports for connecting older audio devices like a record player.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The Marshall Heddon is available now for $299.99, which is more than twice as expensive as Sennheiser\u2019s $129.95 BTA1 transmitter. When purchased with an Acton III, Stanmore III, or Woburn III wireless speaker the Heddon will get a half price discount.
