Lidl Ireland has issued an urgent recall of a popular bakery item.<\/p>\n

Lidl Ireland has urgently recalled <\/a>one of its popular bakery items amid fears it could pose a health risk to some customers.<\/p>\n

The recall affects all batch codes and all best before dates on the ‘Bridge Bakery Oxford Lunch Cake’.<\/p>\n

It comes after it was discovered that the cake contains nuts<\/a>, which are not declared in bold on the ingredient list.<\/p>\n

This could therefore put consumers with nut allergies<\/a> or intolerances at risk.<\/p>\n

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland<\/a> said: “Bridge Bakery Oxford Lunch Cake contains almonds which are not emphasised on the list of ingredients. This may make the product unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of nuts (almonds), and therefore, these consumers should not eat the affected packs. The implicated product is being recalled by Lidl.”<\/p>\n

Lidl Ireland<\/a> has apologised for any inconvenience and advised anyone with an allergy or intolerance to almonds not to eat the cake.<\/p>\n

It also confirmed that the cake can be returned to any Lidl store<\/a> for a full refund, with or without a receipt.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson said: “Lidl Ireland is recalling the above Bridge Bakery Oxford Lunch Cake due to Almonds not being declared in bold in the ingredient list. If you have purchased the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to Almonds, we advise you do not consume it.<\/p>\n

“Instead, please return the product to a Lidl store<\/a> for a full refund, with or without a receipt. Lidl wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused. Any customers with queries or concerns can contact our Customer Services Team on 01 920 3010.”<\/p>\n

Almond allergy symptoms<\/a> can vary from mild to severe and often include skin reactions, digestive troubles and breathing difficulties. In extreme cases, anaphylaxis – a life-threatening reaction – may occur.<\/p>\n

Common symptoms to watch out for include hives, itching, swelling, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and difficulty breathing.<\/p>\n
