Uisce \u00c9ireann crews are responding to a “significant” water mains burst to a water main on the N71, Bandon Rd that occurred yesterday evening – with a traffic management plan in place.<\/p>\n
The company said that the repair is “complicated due to its location and traffic volumes” in the Bandon Road area<\/a>. A traffic<\/a> management plan has been agreed and will be in place from 8pm this evening, and crews will be working from that time until 6am on Saturday to carry out the repairs.<\/p>\n Customers in Bandon Road, Waterfall and surrounding areas may experience supply disruptions to their water supply. To support these customers, alternative water supplies are in place, with a water tanker available, at St James Cemetery\/Chetwynd. Uisce \u00c9ireann said: “Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.”<\/p>\n Waterfall, Cork(Image: Google)<\/p>\n Michael Bell, Water Network Operations Manager, Uisce \u00c9ireann, added: \u201cDue to the nature of this burst and its location, a traffic management plan had to be agreed with the relevant authorities to prioritise the safety of the repair crew, road users, and the general public. Our crews are now scheduled to start repair works this evening from 8pm. Repair works are due to be completed by 5am; however, it may take a number of hours for water pressure to return to normal at higher elevations.\u201d<\/p>\n Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all affected customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.<\/p>\n Vulnerable customers registered with Uisce \u00c9ireann can receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
