{"id":262373,"date":"2026-01-24T23:14:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-24T23:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/262373\/"},"modified":"2026-01-24T23:14:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-24T23:14:07","slug":"bail-granted-for-cork-man-in-possession-of-stolen-clothes-he-thought-were-knockoffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/262373\/","title":{"rendered":"Bail granted for Cork man in possession of stolen clothes he thought were &#8216;knockoff&#8217;s&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">A 39-year-old man caught with sports clothing stolen from JD Sports said he bought them from a man in the English Market thinking they were \u201cknock-off\u2019s\u201d as garda\u00ed objected to bail in his case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Gavin Sheehan of Laurel Ridge, Shanakiel, Cork, was arrested and brought before Cork District Court on a charge of handling stolen property on January 13 at Oliver Plunkett Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The property consisted of an adult tracksuit and an item of children\u2019s clothing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Sergeant Gear\u00f3id Davis said the objection was partly based on evidence that the accused had been addicted to crack cocaine and may commit further offences to feed the addiction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Judge John King granted bail to the 39-year-old.
