Forget about the rest, just come to Murphy’s Rock.”<\/p>\nHe continued: “I’ve got huge expectations and I looked up some of the reviews and it says the portions are massive.”<\/p>\n
Settling into his seat, he repeated that locals had assured him this was Cork’s premier offering, and while reviews had warned him about generous portions, nothing quite prepared him for what arrived.<\/p>\n

Gazing at his ham roast dinner, he said: “Oh my god… this plate is stacked.”<\/p>\n
After surveying what lay before him, he remarked: “That looks amazing. Huge. That’s too big. That’s too big a portion for me if I was to complain. Like too big a portion.”<\/p>\n
Attempting to slice his meat, he joked he practically needed an additional plate to manage it, before sampling the fare.<\/p>\n
He praised the “thick slabs” of ham before delivering his verdict: “Oh my god. Oh my god. You can taste the honey glaze off the ham. The ham is unbelievable. So moist. Spectacular ham.”<\/p>\n
Paul mentioned his disappointment at the absence of turkey, though he acknowledged the carvery shut at 3pm and he’d only turned up an hour before closing.<\/p>\n
While the ham proved a winner, the less-than-crispy roast potatoes didn’t quite measure up, as he explained in his final verdict, where he also revealed what he paid.<\/p>\n

He commented: “I thought the ham was absolutely exceptional. Maybe one of the best hams I’ve ever had. The honey on it was great, one of my favourites I’ve ever had. The veg was kind of cold…”<\/p>\n
Paul and cameraman John then reflected on their late arrival, noting that the server had remarked it was quite late to be getting the meal.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Paul insisted he could only assess what was put in front of him, before going on: “The mash was beautiful and creamy but it was slightly lumpy. The roasties were terrible. The roasties were terrible.<\/p>\n
“How much did it cost? It was \u20ac19 for the carvery which is absolutely on the expensive side.<\/p>\n
“It had really good things but then it had really average things as well. So what score would I give it? And the price was pretty expensive…<\/p>\n

“I had some really high and really low points so I am going to go 7.7 out of 10.”<\/p>\n
