{"id":263060,"date":"2026-01-25T10:01:16","date_gmt":"2026-01-25T10:01:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/263060\/"},"modified":"2026-01-25T10:01:16","modified_gmt":"2026-01-25T10:01:16","slug":"tipp-too-strong-for-cork-in-u16-a-munster-camogie-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/263060\/","title":{"rendered":"Tipp too strong for Cork in U16 A Munster camogie final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">\n             Tipperary 2-15 Cork 2-6\n        <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Disappointment for Cork as they lost out to Tipperary in the Munster U16 A championship final at Castle Road on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The damage was done in the first half and by the break Tipp were 1-10 to 0-2 in front and it was always going to be difficult for the Rebels to come back from there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">To their credit they never gave up and kept fighting to the bitter end, but on the day, they were simply beaten by a better side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Tipp were outstanding all through and defensively gave the Cork forwards little or no room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Up front Lily Ivors was a handful but player of the game by a mile was Maria Groome.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The half-forward was superb from start to finish and a constant threat to the Cork defence. She finished with 2-2 but it wasn\u2019t just her scoring that caused the home side problems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Her ability to run with the ball and take on defenders made her a handful and were in not for a number of quality saves from Cork keeper Kayleigh Murphy, Groome\u2019s tally could have been higher.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ivors opened the scoring from a free, with Saili O\u2019Connor and Olivia Looby adding to Tipp\u2019s tally before Isabelle O\u2019Callaghan got Cork off the mark from a free.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ivors and Groome increased Tipp\u2019s lead, to make it 0-6 to 0-1 after 20 minutes. Three minutes later and Groome had the first of her goals, giving Murphy no chance of saving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ivors added two more points to make it 1-8 to 0-1 as half-time approached. Cork\u2019s only goal chance came when Orla O\u2019Brien\u2019s effort was well saved by Sinead Delaney.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Ivors hit two more, with O\u2019Callaghan replying from a free to see Tipp lead by 1-10 to 0-2 at half-time.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/4944452_3_articleinline_EOHTippCork02.jpg\" alt=\"Cork's Isabelle O'Callaghan is tackled by Tipperary's Kate Duffy and Tara Maher.
