Air fryers have become a staple in kitchens nationwide, with legions of households abandoning traditional ovens for these space-saving gadgets. Their ability to rustle up grub quickly and with far less oil has struck a chord with busy Brits looking for healthier cooking options.<\/p>\n

However, health<\/a> professionals have now issued a stark warning about the hidden hazards festering in neglected machines. Cleaning<\/a> specialists at Fountain Filters have emphasised the vital importance of regular checks and thorough cleaning of air fryers<\/a> to prevent hazardous mould growth.<\/p>\n

The interior of the appliance, particularly around the basket, can become a breeding ground for mould if not properly cleaned and dried after each use.<\/p>\n

The combination of leftover food<\/a> particles, warmth, and moisture creates perfect conditions for mould to thrive.<\/p>\n

Louise Allen, co-founder of Fountain Filters, cautions that mould poses “serious health implications” which many people fail to recognise.<\/p>\n

She cautioned: “Exposure to mould can lead to a range of health issues, from minor allergic reactions like sneezing and skin rashes to more severe respiratory problems, particularly for those with asthma<\/a> or weakened immune systems.<\/p>\n

“As we prepare for the colder months, when mould tends to thrive in the damp and poorly ventilated areas of our homes, it’s more important than ever to be vigilant.”<\/p>\n

Fortunately, maintaining a pristine air fryer is remarkably straightforward. Simply disconnect the device from the mains, remove all detachable components, and give them a good scrub with hot, soapy water.<\/p>\n

Next, clean the interior using a cloth moistened with a blend of lemon juice and water, ensuring every surface is completely dry before reassembling.<\/p>\n

In the same vein, your coffee machine – that essential morning companion for your daily caffeine boost – may also be concealing hazardous mould spores without regular maintenance.<\/p>\n

The persistent dampness in the water reservoir and internal pipework, coupled with the heat generated whilst brewing, creates ideal circumstances for mould growth. Happily, there’s a straightforward solution to prevent mould taking hold.<\/p>\n

Simply run a cycle with a solution of water and white vinegar through the coffee maker, followed by two water-only cycles for rinsing. Lastly, make certain the machine is thoroughly dry before putting it away.<\/p>\n
