No one here is going to tell you that \u201cFrankfurt is just around the corner\u201d or that \u201cFrankfurt will be here before you know it.\u201d Frankfurter Buchmesse<\/a> (October 15 to 19) is actually more than five weeks away. And it will not be here before we know it, will it? No, we\u2019ll know it.<\/p>\n

\"\"Take a breath. And have a look at some of the books we have here today, thanks to some of the agents and rights directors who faithfully share their deal news with us for our monthly Rights Roundup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re starting, for example, with agent Gina Winje\u2019s presentation of the first of a new trilogy from Nobel Prize in Literature winner Jon Fosse<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"It\u2019s called Vaim. And that\u2019s the name of both a boat and a girl. It publishes on September 5 in Norwegian and on October 7 in English.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re pairing something new with something old, too. Inka Ihmels at Aufbau Verlage in Berlin is flagging Karen W. to us, a book by Gerti Tetzner. In the 1970s, we\u2019re told, it had serious rights interest, in at least seven languages.<\/p>\n

\u201cVaim by Nobel Prize in Literature laureate Jon Fosse<\/a> is the first of three books about a fictional small town, Vaim. Each volume of the trilogy is expected to focus on different characters. The three books\u2019 titles are Vaim; Vaim Hotel; and The Vaim Weekly.<\/p>\n

As Vaim opens, Jatgeir has come from Vaim to the big city, Bj\u00f8rgvin, on his boat Eline. He wants to buy a needle and thread but is cheated, twice.<\/p>\n

\u201cYet strangely, he finds and comes home with Eline herself\u2014his long-lost love, who has left her husband Frank.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe story of this triangle is a book about little boats and big boats, love and death, passive men and an unusually determined woman. It\u2019s no use trying to argue with Eline.\u201d<\/p>\n
