On Jan. 12, researchers, journal editors, and notably Nobel laureate Moungi Bawendi, gathered in Zurich for a 2-day event focused on collaboration and innovation across the fields of nanoscience and energy. The event was the first in a series<\/a> of exclusive, international events to take place this year celebrating the American Chemical Society\u2019s 150th anniversary and its flagship journal, the Journal of the American Chemical Society, which was founded in 1879. Attendees were able to participate in panel discussions with researchers and poster sessions as a chance to present their research.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat better way to recognize\u00a0a historic milestone like a sesquicentennial than\u00a0a series of in-person events where we recognize the past, present,\u00a0and future of chemistry!\u201d says Sarah Tegen, senior vice president and chief publishing officer, ACS Publications. \u201cThey showcase\u00a0the high-quality science and renowned experts published across the portfolio of ACS journals\u00a0and\u00a0will\u00a0unite the brightest minds in chemistry.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chemical Society of Japan Spring Meeting on March 18 in Funabashi, JapanChinese Chemical Society Congress on April 12 in Chongqing, ChinaKorean Chemical Society General Meeting on April 15 in Jeju Island, South KoreaIndian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, gathering held in July in Kolkata, IndiaACS Fall 2026 held in August in ChicagoUniversity of Cape Town on Sept. 10, in Cape Town, South AfricaAtlantic Basin Conference on Chemistry held in December in Brazil<\/p>\n

Together, the events will feature 70 speakers, including at least four Nobel laureates, across five continents. \u201cEach symposium is unique and covers a different\u00a0facet\u00a0of science\u2014spanning topics\u00a0that include\u00a0nanoscience and energy, bio- and medicinal chemistry,\u00a0polymer chemistry,\u00a0environmental\u00a0chemistry, and more.\u00a0We aimed to make this series truly global and multidisciplinary, with something for every chemist,\u201d says Teo Pulvirenti, vice president, Global Editorial Strategy, ACS Publications. \u201cEach event will be a hub of innovation, featuring exclusive keynote lectures from Nobel laureates, dynamic\u00a0panel discussions with leading innovators, and interactive poster sessions that offer a rare platform for\u00a0early-career\u00a0researchers to\u00a0showcase\u00a0their work on a global stage.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
