The latest film to roll through the Hollywood biopic craze, \u201cMichael,\u201d has set an international premiere date in Berlin, christening a multi-day festival for fans of the King of Pop this April. The news was announced today, during Munich Film Week, by Graham King, the award-winning producer of \u201cBohemian Rhapsody,\u201d \u201cThe Departed,\u201d and \u201cAviator.\u201d<\/p>\n

On April 10, two weeks before its theatrical release, the film\u2019s cast and crew will attend the premiere, before a \u201cmulti-day fan celebration event,\u201d the details of which have yet to be shared.<\/p>\n

The film will explore Jackson\u2019s earlier years<\/a>, delving into the life and legacy of the globally recognised pop star, from his formative years and discovery to his \u201crelentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world,\u201d as described by the film\u2019s official logline.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichael\u201d stars Jaafar Jackson in his feature film debut as Michael Jackson, Nia Long (\u201cEmpire,\u201d \u201cThe Best Man\u201d) as Katherine Jackson, Laura Harrier (\u201cBlacKkKlansman,\u201d \u201cSpider-Man: Homecoming\u201d) as Suzanne De Passe and Juliano Krue Valdi (\u201cThe Loud House,\u201d \u201cArco\u201d) as a younger Michael Jackon, with Miles Teller (\u201cTop Gun: Maverick,\u201d \u201cWhiplash\u201d) as John Branca and two-time Academy Award\u00ae nominee Colman Domingo (\u201cSing Sing,\u201d \u201cRustin\u201d) as Joe Jackson.<\/p>\n

\u201cMichael\u201d is directed by Antoine Fuqua (\u201cTraining Day,\u201d \u201cOlympus Has Fallen,\u201d \u201cThe Equalizer\u201d), from a screenplay by three-time Academy Award\u00ae nominee John Logan (\u201cGladiator,\u201d \u201cThe Aviator\u201d). The film is produced by Academy Award\u00ae winner Graham King for his company GK Films, alongside executive producers John Branca (\u201cThis Is It,\u201d \u201cThriller 40\u201d) and John McClain (\u201cThis Is It,\u201d \u201cThriller 40\u201d). The film is distributed internationally by Universal Pictures.<\/p>\n

The biopic is set to be released in Australian theatres on April 23, 2026, after being moved from its original October 3, 2025 date. Although production on \u201cMichael\u201d wrapped in May 2024, it underwent reshoots, amid reports that the film would be split into two halves \u2014 but the first trailer seems to point to just the one film.
